Share Your “Music in the Gardens” Event
Save the Date for Open Garden Day NYC
On Saturday, July 14, 2018 from 11:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. (rain or shine), dozens of community gardens across New York City will open their gates and offer free activities to the public for Open Garden Day NYC!
Join the community gardening movement and tour dozens of community gardens. Enjoy a day of free activities and / or host activities in your garden. Activities will differ from each garden and may include activities like: arts and crafts, a music performance, a ShapeUp class, a food demonstration or an opportunity for the public to get their hands dirty and dig in the soil! Feel free to suggest your own activity as well!
If your community garden would like to participate, please fill out the Open Garden Day NYC form by Friday, June 8, 2018. We are asking all gardeners who are taking part in Open Garden Day NYC to schedule a free activity or event for the public to enjoy in some of our city’s finest community garden spaces.

NYC Civic Corps Positions at GreenThumb
2018-2019 NYC Civic Corps application is now open! Each year, as part of its AmeriCorps program, NYC Service places 100 NYC Civic Corps members at City agencies and community-based organizations to lead service-oriented program lasting from September to mid-July. There are three positions with GreenThumb available: Volunteer Program Coordinator and Youth Leadership Council Coordinators. Apply today!
3rd Annual Garden Recognition Awards
GreenThumb will celebrate its 3rd Annual GreenThumb Garden Recognition Awards this fall! If you would like to nominate a GreenThumb garden (including your own) for one of the awards, please fill out the Nomination Form by Friday, July 20, 2018.

UCC Youth Farm
Fungi can be helpful in your garden and delicious in the kitchen. This workshop offers a peek into the fungi kingdom at large and addresses DIY indoor growing and cultivation methods with the option to transfer your fungi to your outdoor garden. In addition to a demonstration of basic propagation techniques, the class offers resources for finding mushroom materials to work with as you set about on your homegrown mycological pursuits.
